Bree: Laurie, I do all my races in my Splish. It started that way because I wanted to be an ITU girl and they only wear swim suits (not bike shorts), so my first triathlon I wore only a swim suits… then coach got me in the long stuff and my favorites were Lori Bowden and Fernanda Keller and they always wore only a swim suit… so I decided to wear only a swim suit. I think for me it works because my bike fit isn’t the most “perfect aerodynamic fit”, I fit by comfort and I like my seat… those 2 make it possible.
I have competed in a few sprint triathlons and I’m curently training for the olympic distance. I’m considering the purchase of a tri bike and test rode one today. I’m having issues actually soft tissue issues with the seat and longer rides. Is it all about finding the right seat or are there other tricks. It is always a man working at the bike shop and I’m not sure how to tell him that it is not my butt that hurts. Any suggestions? I know this is sort of a not so talked about topic but getting into the tri bike position made me cringe a little and thinking there must be something that can be done about this.
